Design a promotional flyer for Doxa Recovery—a 12-week gospel-centered recovery program hosted by Doxa Church in Madison, Wisconsin. The goal was to create a piece that speaks directly to those seeking hope and healing, visually communicating the redemptive power of Christ through both design and messaging. The flyer needed to feel grounded, inviting, and rooted in the church’s mission to be a safe refuge for the broken—while also providing clear logistical information about the program.

To visually reflect the program’s core message of restoration through the Gospel, I drew inspiration from the Japanese art of Kintsugi—where broken pottery is repaired with gold to become something stronger and more beautiful than before.
Symbolic Visual Concept
The Kintsugi-inspired texture—featuring gold-filled cracks across a stone background—became a central visual metaphor. It served as a quiet but powerful representation of grace, healing, and the redemptive beauty found in Christ. This choice allowed the design to speak spiritually without relying on overt religious symbols.Layout & Typography
I paired the textured background with a clean, modern layout and restrained typography to convey trust, clarity, and emotional accessibility. The design allows the viewer to absorb the message without distraction—reinforcing the program’s tone of spiritual depth and hope.Brand Consistency
The hexagonal icon and bold DOXA wordmark provided structure and familiarity, anchoring the flyer within the broader visual language of the organization. Key information like “12 week” and “June 2nd” was carefully emphasized to support quick comprehension and action.Emotional Balance
From color palette to composition, every choice was designed to express both strength and gentleness—a visual tension that mirrors the emotional journey of personal struggle, faith, and transformation.
